Drinks for Thought…

Water is, of course, my staple beverage. I do my best to drink a full glass first thing in the morning (leaving it by my bed at night is my best strategy). This is an easy way to help alkalize the body and it also aids digestion and detoxification. I also carry a glass bottle full of water everywhere to make sure it’s easily accessible all day long.

Additionally, I have my go-to morning, daytime, and evening drinks that are all packed with added health benefits.

Morning…

My breakfast is almost always a smoothie. I try to mix it up but one of my favorite recipes is below. I love this in the morning because it is easy and filled with protein and healthy fats to keep me going until lunch. And while I like the pineapple for the flavor, it is also has digestive enzymes which is a great health benefit, especially first thing in the morning. Added perk- my kids love it!

Ingredients
1/3 cup almond milk (preferably homemade, see here for a recipe)
1/3 cup coconut water
1 Tbsp hemp powder
1/2 Tbsp chia seeds
1/2 Banana
1/2 cup fresh frozen pineapple
2 Kale leaves

Directions
Put ingredients in a nutrabullet or blender and blend until smooth. You can read about why I love the nutrabullet here.

Afternoon…
There are many drinks these days that contain Turmeric, which I am thrilled about because it is a natural liver detoxifier and one of the most potent natural anti-inflammatories available. One of my favorites is from Urban Remedy but check out your local health food store to see what’s available near you. You can also sprinkle a bit of turmeric in your smoothie, juice or tea!

And now for the fun stuff, evening…
While it is not every night, there are certainly times where I like to end the day with an adult beverage. My favorite is to mix tequila with fresh squeezed lime juice but Laughing Glass has another great alternative. It is all natural with no artificial ingredients, preservatives or colors and is non-GMO, vegan and gluten free! So on those nights where you need a little something extra, this is a great option.

Cheers!
